Background:
FOLLOWING THE MUNICH AGREEMENT OF SEPTEMBER 1938, ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE WORLD WAR II BROKE OUT, THE REPUBLIC OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA DISINTEGRATED. THE REGION OF CARPATHO-RUSSIA, WITH BUSTYN IN IT, WAS GRANTED IN NOVEMBER 1938 A NATIONAL RUTHENIAN AUTONOMY. THE UKRAINIANS (RUTHENIANS) PERSECUTED THE JEWS UNTIL THE AUTONOMY WAS OCCUPIED BY THE HUNGARIAN ARMY ON 15.3.1939. THE HUNGARIANS CONTINUED IN THE SAME VEIN. THE JEWS WERE DEPRIVED OF THEIR WORK AND TRADE PERMITS AND MANY FAMILIES WERE LEFT WITHOUT THEIR MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD.

Translation
The Relevance of Israel's Religion!

On the occasion of the Czech exodus, our church was built on our home and now we are here robbed of everything, and of finding conscience in God's homeland.
if ever and someone needs the church then this reank exists for increased reasons because we are poor and plundered and now that after a bitter 20 years we have returned to the motherland we consider it a Jewish and Hungarian duty to restore our church destroyed by the enemy.
I know and we know that now everyone has their own worries and struggles, but we confess with a Hungarian Jewish heart and we know that "the nation of Israel is not asleep and not dormant" and we set up the lords of the Lord to dwell among us.
we were born and raised here, we love patriotism, life, and the hearts where our dead loved ones rest and we want to build with these holy feelings...
