The author has lived in Jerusalem for the six months the city was under siege and she describes her experiences -

The city was cut off from the rest of the settlement, exposed to constant gunfire and shelling, exposed to hunger and thirst, and yet it stood firm throughout the period.

The writer experienced these memorable months, writing her diary in English even though it is not her mother tongue. The goal was to present first-hand to our friends abroad the picture as it was these days.

The book was published by WIZO, the Department of Zionist Education.

The opening emphasizes that no corrections were made in the English language so as not to dull the real feeling the writer experienced.
