Jewish Judaica 1935 Synagogue Cantor HERMANN EPSTEIN German Germany Letter
Mannheim, June 27, 1935.
To the
honorable board of directors of the isr.
I have learned that you need one Shochet
and therefore allow me to apply for this
position.
I am 40 years old, born in Lithuania, married
and have 3 children aged 6-10. In Lithuania I attended
the yeshivah and learned the shechita there.
I have been in Germany since 1912. In 1929 I
acquired German citizenship, but unfortunately it has
now been revoked.
From October 1, 1912 to May 20, 1914 I was employed as
a cantor and butcher for the community of Langen b/
Darmstadt. From here I came to Pfungstadt, where I worked until
September 15, 1914. I was then in Egelsbach from September
1915 to August 1921. In the meantime I was also employed in
Königstein a/Taunus from July 1, 1920 to January 12, 1921.
From August 15, 1921 I worked in Mannheim as first cantor of
the Klaus Synagogue and Schochet of the community, although
I no longer carry out the latter position. We slaughtered
around 60 large cattle and the same number of small cattle
every week in the local community. 2.2t. I'm just cantor at
the Klaus Synagogue.
If you wish, I would be happy to send in certificates
immediately.
I would be very grateful for a favorable decision
and draw
with excellent respect
