Description: The affair of the illegal immigration ship "Struma"; The disaster; The names of the illegal immigrants. The Struma sailed from Romania on December 11, 1941, carrying 769 immigrants aboard. After many hardships, it reached the port of Istanbul, but was dragged out of the port due to British pressure to prevent the immigrants from immigrating to Israel. The ship sank in the Black Sea from a Soviet torpedo on 24 February 1942. All its passengers perished except one survivor. The disaster aroused great anger towards the British High Commissioner Harold McMichael, who was called a "murderer" by the Yishuv.
