Antique French Stevengraph Reproduction of Original Paul Tavernier Painting
An antique silk stevengraph made by the French company Neyret Freres depicting an original painting by Paul Tavernier (Paris, France 1852 – 1935). The Neyret company was a premier silk weaver in the late 1800s-1970s that produced fine woven silk tapestries called “stevengraphs”. This stevengraph depicts a man on horseback watching his hounds approach their prey. The piece identifies the artist Tavernier to the lower left corner and bears the initials “NFF” in the lower right.
